This element of the blog contains many insects that I have captured over the past few years. The majority have been caught with the trusty 100mm f2.8 non L series lens. Some arrive here courtesy of the kit 18-55mm lens, using a variety of extension tubes or reversing the lens using an adaptor specific to the brand.

On this subject, it is well worth considering extension tubes or a reversal ring, if you fancy a spot of macro. Far better to spend just a small amount of money compared to hundreds of pounds or dollars for a specific and dedicated prime macro lens that you find awkward to handle.

Make no mistake, if you are new to macro there really is so much to get your head round. Here on my blog as and when I have time I will explain and hopefully dispel all the ridiculous myths associated with ‘true close up’ photography!
